Исследование было направлено на изучение связей между способностью детей с аутизмом и задержкой психического развития решать задачи на «модель психического» (понимать ментальные состояния) и их интеллектуальными показателями. Выявлены общие для всех детей характеристики, способствующие успешному решению таких задач, а для аутичных детей - специфические, препятствующие этой деятельности.
