РЕПРЕЗЕНТАЦИЯ «ЧУЖИХ» ГАСТРОНОМИЧЕСКИХ РЕАЛИЙ В АНГЛОЯЗЫЧНЫХ ПУТЕВЫХ ЗАМЕТКАХ XIX ВЕКА

The article deals with the linguistic representation of Russian cuisine in English travel notes of the 19th century. When traveling, the authors’description of food is one of the key features in creating the image of an “alien” culture. The “otherness” of Russian dishes is achieved through the use of culinaronyms which denote food products and dishes and mark cultural peculiarities of a certain historical period. The analysis has shown that using culinaronyms, the authors of travel notes mark an “alien” culture. In the texts, culinaronyms are conveyed by means of transliteration, sometimes with the author’s comments added.
