The article touches upon the question of the foundation of stereotypes, to be more exact, heterostereotypes. The author tries to find out what kind of image of Russia has been formed in the UK up to the present day. The newspapers “The Guardian” and “The Independent” are served as the material for analysis. As a result, the author comes to the conclusion that multicultural cooperation depends on the respect to the “other” cultural peculiarities and the desire of mutual understanding.
