While translating the texts dated back nearly one hundred years, a translator faces the problem of choosing the optimal translation strategy either to preserve the style of the original text, cultural and historical climate of the time which makes the process of reading more complicated, or to modernize the translation and therefore provide the reader with the text easy to understand. The author discusses translation strategies applied in the process of translation of the books by Maria Montessori - a famous Italian physician and educator.
