Toponymy as an element of improving cognitive activity among pupils and students.Geography and regional studies approach enables to know the territory through geographic designations.The Science that studies geographicaldesignationsreveals their origins, the conditions of formation, pronunciation. While comparing geographical designations of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Tyva, emphasis is made on gidrotoponimy. Despite the fact that both republics are geographically distant from each other, both have different culture and history, in geographical designationsmany similarities areprevailed, namely in the presence of Turkic formants (root, suffix). This study contributes to the development of interest in the younger generation to know more aboutthe territory of their living.
