The article examines changes in the structure of electricity production by fuel type in the EU for 1995 - 2012 years. The research is based on an analysis of the EU's official statistical data from 28 countries in the region.Calculations have shown that in the production of electricity hydrocarbons and a solid fuel are replacing by anuclear fuel and alternative energy sources. At the same time, in six countries of the region goes a significant and noticeable decrease in nuclear generation.
