As a result of the unthinkable efforts of the Chinese people, the water quality in Taihu has ceased to deteriorate, and environmentalists have noted a decrease in the concentration of phosphates and nitrates in lake waters. However, the reservoir is still far from complete rehabilitation. The successful experience of Chinese scientists and officials can be used to restore the ecosphere of "blooming" lakes around the world.
