N2  - Mathematical modeling plays a special role in modern science. Considerable attention is paid to the fact that when studying a process by mathematical methods, first of all, its mathematical model is built, changing the parameters in it, the influence of each factor on the behavior of the process as a whole is assessed. At the same time, we obtain objective information, as in experimental research. The article deals with the mathematical way of thinking, which now penetrates into all areas of knowledge, and mathematical modeling plays a special role in modern science. Considerable attention is paid to the fact that when studying a process by mathematical methods. First of all, its mathematical model is built, changing the parameters in it, the influence of each factor on the behavior of the process as a whole is assessed. At the same time, we obtain objective information, as in experimental research. The author notes that this is an experiment performed on a computer, but instead of a real process, a mathematical model is being investigated, i.e. computational experiment. Obtaining numerical solutions using computers made it possible to implement new analytical approaches. The article discusses examples of using computational methods to process environmental data.
